Cocoa is a gorgeous, loving, full-of-life boy who has spent nearly his entire life waiting for a family. Found as a 10-week-old puppy with his brother Jasper in a derelict house in La Murada, he came to Paradise Rescue Kennels back in November 2019. And somehow, unbelievably, he’s still here.

Now almost 6 years old, Cocoa has grown up behind kennel gates—he’s never known the simple joys of a real home, of being curled up on a sofa, of being someone’s dog. But despite it all, he’s still full of love, happiness, and hope. He’s a big-hearted boy who absolutely adores cuddles and kisses, and once he bonds with you, he’ll be your biggest fan and your most loyal companion.

Cocoa is full of energy, fun, and affection. He’s a strong boy and very excitable—he’s never had the chance to learn the rhythms of home life, the gentle routines, the do’s and don’ts. But give him time, patience, and understanding, and there’s no doubt he will thrive. He just needs someone who can offer him the guidance he’s never had, someone who sees his potential and wants to help him become the dog he was always meant to be.

He’s already castrated and ready to go. What he needs now is a person or family with the heart and commitment to help him finally begin his real life.

Cocoa has never stopped hoping for his forever home—and we haven’t stopped hoping either. Let’s make sure that by November 2025, we’re sharing pictures of Cocoa living his best life: sleeping in his own bed, going on adventures, and being loved as he always should have been.
